The challenge

Where the brand started.

The regional footwear market splits into two extremes: global sports brands at premium prices, and unbranded imports with inconsistent sizing, poor materials and no after-sales accountability. Everyday consumers — workers on their feet all day, families buying casual footwear, older customers needing comfort — were underserved in the middle. Building an owned brand meant solving hard problems at once: sizing consistency across factories, materials that survive heat and dust, a price point that works for modern trade margins, and enough range depth (sizes, colours, widths) to earn permanent shelf space rather than a trial slot.

8 plays

Strategic approach

Play A

Designed for the region, not adapted to it

Trekiva was engineered from the ground up for Gulf conditions: breathable uppers for heat, outsoles compounds tested on hot pavement, and lasts graded on regional foot measurements rather than European or East Asian templates. Sizing consistency was treated as a brand promise — a size 42 fits the same in every style and every production batch.

Play B

Comfort as the hero feature

Every style is built on an everyday-comfort base: cushioned insoles, arch support and lightweight construction. Instead of competing on fashion cycles, Trekiva competes on how the shoe feels at hour eight of a working day — the moment that drives word of mouth and repeat purchase.

Play C

Range depth that earns shelf space

The range grew deliberately to 90+ SKUs across slipper, sandal, slider and clog categories, with 150+ colour and size variants. Depth matters commercially: retailers give permanent placement to brands that can fill a bay, and e-commerce algorithms reward listings with full size runs that stay in stock.

Play D

Factory-direct quality control

Ghori Trading works directly with a vetted factory panel at source, and runs pre-shipment inspection on every batch — stitching, bonding, sizing and colour-fastness checked against a written spec. Sub-3% return rates are the result of catching problems at the factory, not at the customer.

Play E

Modern trade first, e-commerce in parallel

Trekiva launched into modern trade and e-commerce simultaneously. Retail placement built trust and let customers feel the product; online listings with full size runs, honest photography and size guides captured the convenience buyer. Each channel feeds the other — retail discovery drives branded search, and online reviews de-risk the retail buyer's decision.

Play F

Honest pricing with healthy margins

Pricing was engineered so every party wins: an accessible shelf price for the consumer, a full margin for the retailer, and enough headroom for Ghori Trading to fund replenishment, marketing and quality control. No discount-driven positioning — the brand holds its price because the product holds its quality.

Play G

Sizing data that compounds

Every return, exchange and store feedback note feeds a live fit database. Regional foot measurements, width feedback and return reasons are reviewed each season, and the graded lasts are corrected in the next production run. The fit accuracy that keeps returns under 3% is not a one-time achievement — it is a compounding dataset that no imported brand carries.

Play H

A brand built for export from day one

Naming, packaging, barcodes, labelling and documentation were designed for GCC retail and export paperwork at the outset — not retrofitted later. That decision is what lets Trekiva move from a Dubai shelf to a wholesale carton in Jebel Ali without re-engineering the product or the paperwork.

5 phases

How it unfolded

  1. Phase 1

    Product

Regional foot-measurement research, materials selection for heat and dust, and first factory partnerships secured directly by Ghori Trading at source.

  2. Phase 2

    First range

Launch of the core everyday-comfort line in the UAE: casual and work styles with full size runs, sold through first modern-trade accounts and marketplace listings.

  3. Phase 3

    Range depth

Expansion to 90+ SKUs and 150+ variants — sandals, sliders and seasonal lines added as repeat purchase proved the comfort positioning.

  4. Phase 4

    Regional scale

300+ retail doors across the GCC, institutional workwear programs, and wholesale export into neighbouring markets — all replenished from the Dubai warehouse.

  5. Phase 5

    Compounding

Fit and sell-out data from every door and listing feeds back into seasonal range planning — the range now refreshes on a calendar set by customer behaviour, not by factory availability.

The outcome

Trekiva has grown from a single comfort line into a 90+ SKU footwear brand with 300+ retail doors, a sub-3% return rate and a repeat purchase rate above 57% — exceptional numbers in value footwear. It proved that Ghori Trading can do more than distribute other people's brands: it can build one. The same playbook — regional product engineering, factory-direct quality control, range depth and honest pricing — is now the template for every owned brand in the portfolio.
